Here is reporter Bob Ferris in 1947with a KJR news vehicle and an early Boosey & Hawkes wire recorder.  The wire recorder was the first magnetic recording device available, preceding audio tape recording.  Earlier versions of this British-made recorder were carried into battle by combat reporters in World War II.  The news car is the iconic 1947 Ford Super Deluxe Woody wagon.
