Charles Herring

Charles grew up on his parents' wheat farm near Walla Walla, Washington.  He began his radio career in the early 40's at KUJ in Walla Walla.  After serving in the Navy during World War II, Herring was hired by Reg Miller at KJR, and served as a staff announcer for five years.  He left KJR to become  KING-TV's first News Director and reporter in September of 1951.
