Francesco Longo

 

Serious music was also an important part of KJR’s programming.  The station’s twenty-piece American Salon Orchestra broadcast daily on KJR and the American Broadcasting Company.  Its director was the Italian-born pianist Francesco Longo.  He came to Seattle from New York, where he had been director of the Manhattan Opera Company. Here he is seen with a high boy console radio in his Broadmoor home, about 1929.
