Richard Donald “Dick” Keplinger, the dean of the Puget Sound area newscasters, came to Seattle in 1935. He was heard on KVI, KOMO, KJR, KIRO and KXA radio, and later was a fixture on KOMO-TV. This photo was taken in the early 1950s, when his daily KJR news reports were sponsored by Shell Oil.  Keplinger retired in 1963 and died in 1965 at the age of 50.
