The comedy team of Metro and Cosmo, who performed on KYA and the ABC
Western Network in 1929, were typical of the vaudeville comedians of the era
that found their way onto radio. They were known as "The Politan
Brothers", and consisted of Tom Smith (Cosmo, L) and Jack Dean (Metro, R).
They both also doubled as musical performers on other shows. Deane,
who was born to New York vaudeville performers and grew up in the theatre, sang
popular ballads and accompanied himself on the guitar.
